It might seem that Crantock Rowing Club has been a little quiet since Christmas, but behind the scenes, there has been lots going on.

We said goodbye to Messack, after she was given a complete sanding down followed by many coats of paint. It was a tremendous effort from the club, lending hands, sanders, brushes, alot of time and effort. Special thanks must go to  Lisa Cobley, Karen Turton and Chris Eustice. She was professionally renamed ADA III, and launched on 28th February with a fantastic turnout on the beach, with bubbles and a social row.

Francesca Bryan has created and developed the club's new website, which looks great, bringing our club to a wider audience, including some great history of Crantock Rowing Club. The website includes everything you need to know about membership and the club's merchandise, now with ability to can buy online. We will update the website with all the events, both rowing & social. Please do go and have a look www.crantockrowingclub.com

During these 'quieter' months, all of our team's have been training hard, both on the erg rowing machines at Kernow Strength Training, and on the water, including the Gannel and out in Newquay Bay weather permitting. These also include social rows brilliantly organised by Alicia Harty & Paul Thornton, which couldn't happen without them. Organising when we can row with the tides, and arranging crews takes time and a lot of effort. A huge shout out to them, along with the fabulous Chris Eustice, whose help in getting the gigs down to the beach and elsewhere and into and out of the water is invaluable.

As I say we've been training hard and two of the largest, longest and hardest regattas are held early in the season. We kicked off on 8th March with the 3 Rivers Regatta hosted by Caradon Gig Club...thank you. With 4 amazing crews rowing the longest race they've ever rowed...6 miles!  With a bit of drama before the race start,  2 ladies crews, 1 men's and 1 mixed (rowing in the mens), battled the wind and the chop against 89 other gigs in each race and we absolutely smashed it! It was epic!

Ladies GM 1.08.46 - 87

Ladies ADA 1.02.41 - 62

Men’s GM 1.00.43 - 82

Men’s Ada 58.21 - 70

Thank you to all our supporters, there to cheer us on!  #thecornishman #kernowstrength

We're now getting ready, both the gigs and the crews training to go the Scillies for the World Pilot Gig Championships on the 1st May bank holiday weekend. Gannel Maid is going over on the 7th April.  We're all very excited and it's all getting very real with our training stepping up. With 455 crews registered, it's going to be an epic event.

Thank you all for your support. We are very welcoming club and if you wish to join please go on our website to contact us.
